What kind of waste can i compost?

What can I put in my kitchen composter?

Indeed, not all materials and waste are compostable. Only vegetable products can be composted, animal products such as meat, fish, chicken, pork, or beef are not compostable.

Here is a list of compostable foods:

Cooked pasta, cooked rice, all fruits and vegetables (except citrus fruits and avocado skins), leftover cooked vegetables, tea, coffee, fireplace ash, sawdust, cereals. You can also put crushed egg shells that will bring calcium to your compost, but they will not be degraded.

Your Ecovi kitchen composter: works with microorganisms that need a balanced diet like you, the more you vary the food in your composter, the better the quality of your compost will be. Also, don't hesitate to pre-cut your waste, which will make your compost easier to use.

CAUTION: avoid putting citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit etc...) much too acid, they can simply kill the active microorganisms in your composter. Do not use cat litter for health reasons.

Some materials cannot be introduced into the composter at all: metal, plastic, urine and excreta, animal litter,...

Now you are ready to start composting at home!
